We are pleased to provide you with an information document on best practices regarding recruiting, integrating and retention of Indigenous labour in the natural resource sectors. This newsletter was developed in collaboration with Professor Joanie Caron. The latter was inspired by her doctoral thesis on the same subject, produced in 2020 at the School of Native Studies of the Université du Québec en Abitibi-Témiscamingue under the supervision of Professor Hugo Asselin (Caron J., 2020). This project was part of a larger scientific program dealing with mining, forestry and fisheries, led by Professor Jean Michel Beaudoin of the Department of Wood and Forest Sciences at Université Laval.

To learn more about the research project, we invite you to watch this video (french only) by Joanie Caron, professor at the Université du Québec en Abitibi-Témiscamingue, published by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council as part of the annual “I’ve got a story to tell” contest in 2020.
