On December 5 and 6, 2017, the FNQLSDI, in collaboration with the MERN and Transition Énergétique Québec (TEQ), organized two meetings over two days on the development of the Energy Transition, Innovation and Efficiency Master Plan for Quebec and MERN’s policies on consulting Aboriginal communities, including the consultation policy specific to the mining sector.

The purpose of the discussion forum on December 5 is to improve the preliminary measures identified by Transition Energétique Québec (TEQ) for the development of its master plan by incorporating the issues and measures specific to First Nations into the plan.

MERN’s policies on consulting Aboriginal communities and Aboriginal community consultation policy specific to the mining sector
In the framework of this day’s discussion forum, MERN intends to:
- Present and discuss the consideration of comments received following the consultation period, that took place on winter 2015-2016, on the Aboriginal community consultation policy specific to the mining sector;
- Present the new version of the Aboriginal community consultation policy specific to the minig sector with a focus on changes and clarifications;
- Introduce the draft versions of MERN’s Aboriginal consultation policies.
