JOB Offer – Climate Change Project Officer

(between $51 877 and $66 442), revised annually.

Your mandate   

Support First Nations climate leadership through a new funding initiative for community-based climate change projects. 

Main responsibilities    

  • Carry out the deployment of a new climate change initiative for First Nations in Quebec 
  • Support the First Nations communities who are willing to implement climate change projects, in terms of project design, implementation and monitoring  
  • Coordinate a First Nations climate change committee 
  • Maintain collaboration with First Nations, governments and other organizations involved in the initiative 
  • Follow up agreements, budgets and activities related to the initiative 
  • Write activity reports, funding requests and other 
  • Carry out various punctual or special mandates related to the projects 

Do you have the profile?   

  • Combination of academic or professional experience in climate change or a related field, such as environmental sciences, geography, political science, biology, community development, etc. 
  • Organizational, writing and interpersonal skills 
  • Availability to travel occasionally throughout Quebec and to First Nations communities 
  • Excellent communication skills in French and English, both written and spoken 
  • Experience in project or program management (an asset) 
  • Relevant experience working with First Nations or in an Indigenous organization (an asset) 
  • Knowledge of an Indigenous language (an asset)
