Workshop about hydrocarbons in St. Lawrence and pipeline transport projects – March 11, 2014

The FNQLSDI organized a two-day workshop for the First Nations in March 2014. The first day was devoted to discussions and work about hydrocarbons and the second day to discussions and work about forestry. The workshop on hydrocarbons took place in Wendake on March 11, 2014. Two speakers shared their expertise:

Sylvain Archambault, Biologist, M. Sc., who did a presentation on the exploration of hydrocarbons in the Gulf of St. Lawrence and also about the issues and implications of hydrocarbon exploration on Anticosti Island.

Alexandre Desjardins, Lawyer, LL. M., who did a presentation on legal issues related to TransCanada Energy East pipeline project.

The FNQLSDI produced informative sheets about four specific files related to hydrocarbons. These sheets were presented to First Nations in March and April 2014. They address the following files:

  • TransCanada Energy East pipeline project
  • The exploration and development of shale gaz and oil
  • The exploration and development of hydrocarbons in the Gulf of St. Lawrence
